Nobody thinks of themselves as a bully. People don't always recognise their own behaviour as bullying. This play aims to help children to understand how certain actions can develop into bullying and the effect it has on the lives of others.
The message is... it is the bullies who need to change their behaviour not the victims.
The play is set on a school outing to the seaside, during which one child is tormented by her classmates. In the workshop that follows the children are encouraged to express their thoughts on the play and develop a clear understanding of the difference between 'having a laugh' and being a bully. At the end of the session the children review their own behaviour towards others and can understand some of the reasons for bullying and be more able to address them.
