“Golden Spoon” teaches children about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The story follows Jessica’s adventure as she travels around a magical land called Skydally, gathering ingredients for a cooking competition. She meets some eccentric, lively characters including Jeff The Chef, who cleans up his act, Lean Team Gene who teaches the kids some workout exercises, Lemony Melanie who needs help organising her shop, and Sadie Cry Baby who needs cheering up. At the end of the play Jessica returns home with her ingredients, and with the help of her grandmother cooks a healthy dish, which wins the cooking competition.
This is a colourful, lively production giving children a rare opportunity to interact with characters, asking them questions and contributing to the story. The children will leave with a copy of a healthy menu for dinner and keep fit exercises to share in class and take home. This play does not only give teachers material for later class discussions but will also encourage children to have a healthy attitude to incorporate into their lives at home.
